Atomstack X7 Laser Engraver Review

Atomstack has been improving their machines with durable designs and great specifications. The company offers a wide variety of upgrade options for your use case. For example, if you want to engrave on bigger surfaces they have the support extension and rotary kit.

The focusing process is very easy. You put a shim of acrylic on the material and lower the laser head to focus on it.

1. Engraving

The Atomstack A5 Pro laser engraver comes with good assembly instruction manual which Is easy to follow. Screws and parts come in separate bags, labeled accordingly to the necessary step in the manual so you can assemble the machine in less than 30 minutes. The machine uses LaserGRBL and LightBurn, supports Windows system and has a fixed focus laser diode which is great.

The photo engraving result is good although it looks a little less detailed than with Sculpfun S6 Pro, probably because of the bigger spot size. The vector image on the other hand engraved quite well. I also did a test on blue acrylic and after 50 passes at full power the Atomstack A5 Pro only melted the board a little. This is probably because the material doesn’t absorb the blue laser light. It might work better on dark materials though. Also the focusing procedure is not very convenient, you need to place the head 2mm above the surface and tighten the z axis screws with a hex key.

2. Cutting

Atomstack X7 has a 5W diode laser module and is capable of cutting wood, composites, non-woven fabric, paper, glass, coated metals, stone, acrylic, and leather. It has a quadruple lens configuration that spreads the laser beam to a longer distance and keeps it in focus more effectively. It can also engrave on glass surfaces. To do this, you will need to blacken the glass surface and place it on a plane work area. You will also need to wear eye protection glasses. This prevents accidental exposure to the laser beam that can cause permanent damage to your eyes.

X7 has two NEMA 17 stepper motors to drive the X and Y-axis. Its built-in controller lets you perform most tasks such as running a job, jogging or homing the machine, and adjusting power and speed.

3. 3D Printing

3D printing or additive manufacturing is the creation of a three-dimensional physical object from a digital model through a layer-by-layer process. This is accomplished using a variety of materials and technologies.

[2] This method is considered a third industrial revolution,[23] succeeding the first and second industrial revolutions. It is also often considered a form of distributed production, where products can be fabricated by multiple actors.

Several companies are involved in the development of 3D printers, including Stratasys, MakerBot, Ultimaker and Voxelizer. 3D printing technology is used in many different industries, from aerospace engineering to medical devices.

[24] A number of new types of plastics have been developed for use with 3D printing,[25] and the printing technology has evolved to print metals and ceramics as well as polymers. It is even possible to create autostereoscopic lenticular images using this method.

4. Designing

Atomstack X7 Pro is an excellent laser engraving machine with a 3.5-inch touchscreen controller that is magnetically fixed to the back of the controller module. This offline controller lets you operate the laser without a laptop, and it supports Gcode files from LaserGRBL and LightBurn software. It also has limit switches installed on both the X and Y axes, so you can prevent collisions and home the laser head.

GitHub is a popular place to share code with friends, co-workers and complete strangers. It’s also a great way to discover the latest open-source projects. YouTube is another popular platform where you can share videos and find new ones. Sentry is an open-source error tracking tool that can help you detect and respond to errors any time they occur. It is used by teams from a variety of industries. Atom Detailing’s tech stack includes a number of other technologies as well. These include AngularJS, JavaScript and Node.js.
