A fake Elon Musk bitcoin giveaway scam is stealing millions from unsuspecting cryptocurrency investors. The scammers are luring people with videos on YouTube promoting websites that look professional and promise to double their investment. The channels are using names such as Tesla, SpaceX, and Ark Invest. Consumers report losing over $80 million in crypto investments to this type of scam since October 2020.

Many of these scams involve bogus websites that promise lucrative opportunities to invest in or mine cryptocurrencies. According to Bitcoin Abuse, there were 115 reports of such sites in the last day.

Sebastian, a father from Cologne in Germany, lost PS407,000 when he sent his bitcoin to a website that promised to give him more if he kept sending. The scammer even set up a timer to make the transaction look more convincing.
