The battery has a range of about 50 miles, which should be enough for a commute and some light errands around town. The motor uses a Bosch Performance Line CX drive unit that has an excellent power output and delivers a nice balanced ride. The motor is paired with an Enviolo(r) stepless shifting rear hub that enables the bike to change gears automatically based on your riding style and road conditions.
The motor also provides a fair amount of pedal assistance with a torque sensor and cadence sensor that kick in with the best of them. The system also makes a bold claim by allowing you to charge it in the car using a USB plug, which is the first of its kind we've seen.
Ultimately the velo electric doesn't stand out as a true contender in its category, but it's a good option for city cyclists who want to do more than just get around. The best thing about an e-bike is that it's a lot more fun than your average commuter bike and can be used for just as many things, such as completing errands and doing your shopping.
